Two friends of mine from Rwanda recently got green cards and moved to New York City, where they stay with family. We took advantage of the first beautiful spring Saturday last week and hopped on the Staten Island Ferry for a nice view of the city. I asked offhand if they were glad the weather was warming up. Of course, they replied.
Not just because it’s warm, but because it clarified a mystery. “They say there are millions of New Yorkers,” my friend told me, “but I wondered where they all were. Now I know: inside, hiding from the cold!”
