These satire places are great at them — but only because we, as a collective nation, appear incredibly stupid. The latest take on the “Americans don’t know where anything is” style of humor comes from this Onion video, which is indeed, alas, hilarious: “The United States gave billions of dollars in aid to the wealthy European principality of Andorra, which it mistakenly assumed was a poor African country.”
My favorite part is the hot air balloons.
I post this because today, at an AIDS treatment program sponsored by Columbia University, a woman on staff told me she’d been to America recently, and someone had said to her, “Oh yes, I know Rwanda. That’s in Angola, right?”
